HYDERABAD: The West Zone of Hyderabad Police Commissionerate, in collaboration with proactive community members, has successfully established an extensive monitoring network securing the KBR Park and other important locations in the vicinity.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand dedicated a massive network of 264 CCTV cameras at KBR Park in Banjara Hills on Saturday. The project costs about Rs 1.40 crore, with contributions from volunteers and businesses as part of the community CCTV project.
As many as 153 cameras were strategically placed around the park, with the remaining 111 cameras installed at important locations on Road Numbers 36, 45, and Check Post areas. This large network provides extensive coverage, enhancing police surveillance capabilities.
On the occasion, CV Anand emphasised the critical importance of the huge CCTV network in the surroundings and thanked the public for their important contributions and active participation over the last one decade, emphasising Hyderabad's position as the most surveilled city in the country. He also disclosed that Telangana housed around 62 percent of all cameras in India.
Citing recent sensational robberies and snatchings captured by the CCTVs, the commissioner urged the public and community members to continue installing additional CCTV cameras in their respective areas. In order to achieve this goal, he asked his deputies to educate and inform citizens about the multiple benefits of having cameras installed. A new organisation 'Camera Maintenance Organisation' (CAMO) was formed to service and maintain large number of cameras which have served their lifespan and required repair or replacement, he said.
