HYDERABAD: In a major crackdown, the Task Force of Central Zone, in collaboration with the Kachiguda Police Station, apprehended three individuals involved in the illegal manufacturing and sale of duplicate, adulterated, and spurious consumer products.

Based on credible information, the operation occurred near Kumar Theatre in the jurisdiction of Kachiguda Police Station. The prime accused, Mahendra Singh, was caught red-handed. Singh was found to be illicitly procuring and selling counterfeit products under famous brands, including Parachute, Surf Excel, Lizol, Harpic, Red Label, Brook Bond, and Everest.

Simultaneous raids were conducted at three locations in Nagaram, Keesara Mandal (Rachkonda), and Katedhan Industrial Area (Cyberabad), where the accused had established illegal manufacturing and packing units. Three individuals were apprehended, along with a juvenile, and a significant quantity of duplicate raw materials, spurious food items, packing materials, sealing machines, and manufacturing equipment were seized.

While the main suspect, Mahendra Singh, hails from Rajasthan, the other two accused, Mithlesh Kumar and Triyam Kumar, are natives of Bihar. Three more suspects, Shyam Bhati, Kamal Bhati, and Jairam, are absconding.

The seized material, valued at Rs 2 Crore, included counterfeit products such as Parachute coconut oil, Surf Excel detergent powders, Lizol floor cleaning liquids, Red Label tea powder, and Everest masala powder. Additionally, various manufacturing and packing machinery, empty bottles, caps, and packaging materials were seized.

According to police, Mahendra Singh and Shyam Bhati, Kamal Bhati, and Jairam organized an illegal business by procuring duplicate branded food products and low-quality raw materials. They manufactured and adulterated food items, edible oil, tea powder, soaps, and general store items, then sold to retailers in and around Hyderabad. The accused engaged non-local labour from Bihar for the illegal manufacturing process.

A case has been registered against the accused under various sections, including IPC sections 272, 273, 420, and Sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act at Kachiguda Police Station.

The raids were conducted under the supervision of DCP East Zone R Giridhar and Task Force DCP S Rashmi Perumal.
