Hyderabad traffic police book 2,818 drunk drivers in June, 400 jailed, suspends 44 DLs
The Hyderabad Traffic Police cautioned motorists not to drive under the influence of alcohol
HYDERABAD: Traffic cops in Hyderabad caught 2,818 drunk motorists in the month of June 2023. As many as 4,321 charge sheets were filed in June, and respondents were produced before Metropolitan Magistrate courts in Nampally, Hyderabad.
The courts imprisoned 400 persons, suspended 44 driving licences and fined the remaining 3,921 offenders Rs. 93,19,500. All of the violators who were imprisoned were sent to the Chanchalguda Jail.
Hyderabad traffic police filed 682 chargesheets against drivers who were not carrying a driver's licence, 203 chargesheets against minor driving and 60 chargesheets against improper number plates.
The violators were also counselled at the Traffic Training Institute (TTI) in Goshamahal and Begumpet. The special drives against drunk driving and other offences to continue for the safety of commuters on the road.
The respondents who were convicted in drunken drive and other traffic violations might face difficulties in getting the govt. jobs, passport and visa clearance. The Hyderabad Traffic Police cautioned motorists not to drive under the influence of alcohol.
