HYDERABAD: Syeda Lulu Minhaj Zaidi, a Hyderabad woman, who was found starving on the streets of Chicago, is currently missing from the hospital where she was receiving medical treatment.

According to Joanna Dhanabalan, a development worker with Outreach, headquartered in Chicago, Lulu was last spotted in Wilson Avenue in Chicago. She left the hospital where she was admitted and is yet to be found.

Joanna, her staff, and Minaj searched the area, including churches and soup centres on Sheridan and Broadway in Chicago, but she could not be traced.

Local police were reported to be looking for her. Joanna's team had requested assistance from the Indian Diaspora in the search efforts. Negotiations with the Consulate would take place this afternoon, according to Joanna.

The letter written by her mother to the Union Minister was shared on Twitter by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Khaleequr Rahaman. In her letter, Syeda Wahaj Fatima a resident of Moulaali in Hyderabad explained the ordeal faced by her daughter and said that her daughter went to the US to pursue higher studies in August 2021 and was always in touch with her.
