ICC World Cup 2023: Rachakonda police deploys 1,500 cops, 360 CCTV cameras from Oct. 6-10 at Uppal Stadium

HYDERABAD: As many as 1,500 police officers will be deployed for bandobust at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal from October 6 to October 10, 2023 for the ICC One Day World Cup -2023, said Rachakonda police commissioner D S Chauhan on Thursday.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Rachakonda police commissioner D S Chauhan said, "In order to avoid any untoward incidents during the match day, a series of unprecedented measures were taken for the smooth running of Cricket matches at the Uppal cricket stadium, which has a seating capacity of approximately 39,000 seats."

Apart from deployment of 1,500 police officers across the stadium, a total of 360 CCTV cameras were installed including the places at vehicle check points, parking places to cover the entire area in and around the stadium.

Spectators would be allowed through gates according to their ticketing, and an evacuation plan was in place in case of an emergency. He also said that admission through Gate No. 1 would be restricted to players only, with no other visitors permitted.

Bandobust arrangements were coordinated with various wings for the safety of players and spectators, including security, traffic, law and order, AR force, SOT, CCS, She Team, Mounted Police, Vajra, fire tenders and fire department.

A joint command and control room was established at G-6 Box on the South side to monitor CCTV footage and take immediate action. Anti-sabotage checks, aided by B.D teams, would be conducted round the clock until the match is over.

An effective communication system would be maintained through the allocation of VHF sets to every Sub-Inspector and above rank for quick reaction, as well as the installation of a control room.

The bomb disposal team and sniffer dogs would be utilized to ensure safety in the stadium and parking areas. Check posts were set up at all the entry points of the stadium to carry out anti-sabotage checks and frisking.

Teams were deployed to monitor antisocial elements' movements, with three mobile technicians at each gate for spotting spectators' mobile phones. Police forces were deployed at gate Nos-1, 3, 4, 7, & 8 to ensure effective bandobast in and around the stadium.

Spectators are prohibited from carrying banned items such as lamps, banners, water bottles, cameras, cigarettes, electronic items, matchboxes, lighters, binoculars, coins, writing pens, batteries, helmets, perfumes, bags, and outside food.

SHE teams and Vigilance teams were deployed to control eve teasing against women and vendors, following authorities' prescribed rates.

The stadium strictly prohibits the exchange of accreditation cards, personnel replacement, and change of passes, while adequate signage boards were placed to facilitate easy access for spectators.

Viewers are prohibited from parking vehicles on Genpact to Uppal Ring Road and Uppal Ring Road to Vishal Mart, Ramanthapur, and only at designated TSIIC parking areas.

The stadium would open gates and allow spectators in by 12 pm for matches. To ensure the safety of spectators, the number of ambulances was increased from 3 to 7 to provide immediate medical services.

Special teams would be deployed to monitor vendors and hackers outside the stadium, requiring them to monitor the movement of block tickets and collect them.

The vendors and hawkers would be prohibited outside the stadium, and special teams would be deployed to keep an eye out for the movement of block tickets and pick them up.
