IIT-Hyderabad, NIPER, SRM University-AP, IIT-Tirupati secure decent ranks in Nature list

University of Hyderabad was ranked No 1 among all Indian universities and stood at the 16th position out of all 190 institutions

HYDERABAD: A list of Nature Index Rankings of 190 major educational institutions was released on National Science Day and the universities and institutions of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are ranked among the top universities in the country in terms of their research output.

The Nature Index Ranking list scored the institutions based on Nature Index data from December 1 2021 to November 30 2022. It is a pointer on the quality of research done by the institutions on nature and physical sciences.

University of Hyderabad was ranked No 1 among all Indian universities and stood at the 16th position out of all 190 institutions. UoH carried out research of Physical Sciences, Chemistry, Life Sciences and Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Hyderabad’s another prestigious institution Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad was ranked 23rd on the list. The institute performed maximum research on Physical Sciences and Chemistry subjects. It also recorded 79 percent collaboration with International institutions for their research.

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER-Hyderabad) was surprisingly ranked over International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-Hyderabad). It stood at 57 while IIIT-H stood at the 67th rank. NIPER’s entire research circled around Chemistry while IIIT-H’s studies focused on both Chemistry and Physical Sciences.

Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) was ranked at 126th with maximum research on Physical Sciences and a portion of research on Chemistry. CBIT collaborated with University of Hyderabad for its research.

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) was ranked 133 with research in both Chemistry and Physical Sciences, Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) was at 147 with research in Chemistry and KL University was 189th ranked, with research in Physical Sciences, in the list. There were three institutions from Andhra Pradesh listed at remarkably high positions:

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati (IISER Tirupati) was given 25th rank with maximum research in Chemistry followed by Physical Sciences and Life Sciences. They also recorded 57 percent International collaborations.

SRM University, Andhra Pradesh stood at the 37th rank. Their research revolved around Chemistry, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Indian Institute of Technology - Tirupati (IIT-Tirupati) ranked 53 with complete research on Chemistry.

Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore topped the list of all 190 institutions covering all subjects for research and with an article count of 204 and share score of 97.95.
