HYDERABAD: IIT Hyderabad (IITH) has retained its overall ranking of 14 in the eighth edition of the National Institutional rating Framework (NIRF).
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of Education, Government of India, announced the eighth edition of the much-anticipated National Institutional rankings on June 5, 2023.
IITH has maintained its position among the top 10 technical institutes in the country (Rank 8) and as the best among second-generation IITs for the eighth consecutive year.
This year, IITH was ranked third in the NIRF-Innovation (Erstwhile ATIIA-Atal Ranking of Institutional Achievements in Innovation) rankings.
Prof B S Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad, said, “Today, IITH is a brand of its own and has been able to attract a pool of highly talented students and faculty members to invent & innovate in technology for humanity and make IITH ‘A Dream Destination for every Academician, Researcher & Industry’. This achievement is merely due to the unconditional and unparalleled commitment of the students, staff, faculty members and, more importantly, our alumni. I would also like to place on record our gratitude for the support and trust of the Ministry of Education that has facilitated our growth. With new interdisciplinary & industry-centric academic programs that are the need of the hour and in line with the NEP-2020 at IITH, I am sure this is just a milestone. With the support of such an energetic and enthusiastic team, we will create newer benchmarks in Innovating & Inventing in Technology for Humanity (IITH)".
Thrilled at IITH’s NIRF-Innovation–Rank #3, Prof S Surya Kumar, Dean (Innovation, Translation & Startups), said, “For us at IITH, innovation is not just a specific activity, but about creating an ecosystem supporting the young entrepreneurs all the way from concept to market. This encompasses incubation, academic programs, student cells, IP & technology transfer support etc. We hope these initiatives will encourage more and more students to become entrepreneurs".
Talking about IITH’s NIRF Journey so far, Dr Sai Santosh Kumar Raavi, Dept. of Physics & Convenor, NIRF at IITH, said, “IITH is the only second-generation IIT that consistently made it into the top 10 engineering institutes in the country. Even this year, we are Top-3 Institute/ IIT in NIRF-Innovation. This is predominantly due to the proactive implementation of best practices. IITH’s score on some parameters, such as faculty-student ratio, faculty qualification, financial resource utilization, patents, and footprint of projects, are comparable to or higher than some of the older generation IITs, that is evident from our sustained & gradually improving performance in NIRF 2023.”
