International conference on sustainable development goals at University of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) is set to host an International Conference on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2024 as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

The conference is titled "Knowledge for Sustainable Development: Dialogues Across Disciplines to Implement Sustainable Development."

In 2015, the United Nations established a roadmap for the planet, aiming to achieve 17 Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. India has actively pursued goals that promote economic growth and environmental responsibility in a future that is both sustainable and inclusive.

At halfway towards achieving the SDGs, complex challenges persist, necessitating innovative solutions, despite the theoretical hurdle of the interconnected nature of these goals.

Universities play a crucial role in knowledge creation and dissemination, requiring cross-talk across all disciplines to effectively understand and progress towards the SDGs. The UoH community's dedication to the SDGs is fueled by the spirit of intellectual exchange within their walls.

At the conference, all seventeen SDGs will be discussed under three broad themes

• Sustainable Economy towards No Poverty, Clean Energy, and Clean Water
• Good Health and Well-being, Climate Change and Biodiversity
• Social Inclusivity, Education and Innovation

The Conference is an attempt to bring together wide-ranging experiences from India and abroad and, through the ensuing deliberations and dialogues, come up with some inter-disciplinary sustainable strategies and solutions for the implementation of SDGs.

Through dialogues, a corpus of knowledge is anticipated, which transcends disciplinary moorings of sustainable development strategies. The Conference speakers are likely to reflect on the progress made so far and provide direction for the way forward.
