KNRUHS cancels admission of 7 AP students for enrolling with fake nativity certificates
Following a complaint from KNRUHS registrar Dr S Sandhya, Mattawada police registered cases against consultant K Nageswara Rao, identified as the mastermind of the scam and seven others on Saturday
WARANGAL: Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) has cancelled the admissions of seven students from Andhra Pradesh who secured MBBS seats for the academic year 2023-24 illegally with fake nativity certificates at the university.
Following a complaint from KNRUHS registrar Dr S Sandhya, Mattawada police registered cases against consultant K Nageswara Rao, identified as the mastermind of the scam and seven others on Saturday. The police said that seven students were identified as P Subramanya Sai Teja, V Sai Pratheek Reddy, T Vishnu Teja Reddy, T Sanjay, A Hanuman Reddy, T Mahesh and G Bhargav Dharma Teja Yeshwant Naidu.
The KNRUHS released a notification and asked students eligible for MBBS and BDS courses to enroll themselves online for admissions into the academic year 2023-24. The officials found suspicion in the admission of seven students who secured MBBS seats. All of them enclosed their nativity certificates stating that they had studied from class VI to IX in Telangana.
As per the orders given by the President of India, students who pursue their education in Telangana for four years could be considered as eligible for getting a seat under the local quota. All the seven students secured admission to KNRUHS in the local quota but they completed their class X and Intermediate education in Andhra Pradesh. After verifying their records, the university noticed that the seven students appeared for the NEET exam from Andhra Pradesh.
Immediately, the university asked all the seven students to appear before the authorities with their certificates. The students gave irrelevant explanations to the university. When they were questioned by the university authorities, all the seven students confessed that K Nageswara Rao, who ran an agency in Vijayawada, enclosed their certificates without their knowledge and got admission on the MBBS course.
Taking serious note of the matter, the university cancelled the admissions of all the seven students as they were forged. A case was registered with Matwada police against Nageswara Rao and seven students. Further investigations were underway into the matter, the police said.
