HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) urged the youth professionals not to leave town during the long weekend and cast their votes on May 13.

Addressing the BRS youth leaders meeting at Malkajgiri here on Thursday, KTR called upon the youth to vote and not to utilise the four-day holidays to travel and enjoy their free time.

KTR also wanted the young men and women to express their opinions about the five-month-long Congress Government rule through their votes. “In five months Chief Minister Revanth Reddy fulfilled six guarantees. He brought back, inverters, generators, candles, torchlights, power banks, and charging bulbs,” KTR said.

He said that one might ask what the BRS could do for them which was not in power at the Centre and at the State. “When BRS had only five MPs it convinced 272 MPs to vote in favour of State bifurcation bill,” KTR observed. “Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi will dictate terms and their MPs listen to them. But KCR and his team fight for Telangana’s rights in the Parliament,” he added.

Predicting the extension of common capital status to Hyderabad for ten more years after the Lok Sabha elections, KTR said that there was a possibility of converting Hyderabad into a union territory. “If that happens then development will take a back seat because we need permission from the Centre for every small development work,” he said.

KTR reiterated that the BJP would scrap all kinds of reservations by altering the basic tenets of the Indian Constitution after the elections. “Give 12-14 Lok Sabha seats to BRS, within six months K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR)would play a crucial role in national and State politics,” he said.

Asking Malkajgiri BJP candidate Etela Rajender to prove if he was wrong in saying that the Narendra Modi Government looted Rs 30 lakh crore from people by charging more on fuel while the international crude oil prices had come down. “Modi lied that he spent that money on highway development. Then why toll gate charges were collected?” KTR wanted to know.

He urged the youth to be secular in their attitude and not to be carried away in the name of religion.
