HYDERABAD: In a noble gesture and a unique way of celebrating a milestone occasion, Siddharath Shah has adopted a capuchin monkey on the platinum birthday of his father Kanilal Shah on Saturday.

Minister for Forest Allola Indrakaran Reddy felicitated Kantilal Shah and presented a memento to him for supporting the Zoo. In October, Indrakaran Reddy released a pair of capuchin monkeys for the first time into the enclosure for the visitors display in the Zoo.

“Wildlife conservation and education is the main objective of the Zoo. Support from the senior citizens like Shri Kantilal Shah is a great gesture towards the animal adoption scheme,” said Nehru Zoological Park curator Dr Sunil S Hiremath.

The Zoo curator said that earlier, Siddharath Shah’s son adopted a Tiger, Leopard and Cheetah on his birthday. The family was a regular donor for the past 15 years and adopted many animals and birds from time to time, he added.
