Man gets lifer in rape, POCSO case in Saroornagar

HYDERABAD: A fast-track court in LB Nagar pronounced a life sentence for the accused in a rape and POCSO case at the Saroornagar police station on Monday.
The accused, Uppunuthala Harish (22), a carpenter and resident of Madhavanagar in Karmanghat, has been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs 55,000. Additionally, he has been ordered to pay a compensation of Rs 10,00,000 to the victim by the fast-track Special Judge in LB Nagar, Rangareddy district.
The accused was involved in a case of minor rape under the Saroornagar police station. A POCSO case was registered against him under CR.NO 169/2016, including sections U/S 366(A), 376(2)(h) of IPC, and sections 3(a), 4 of the POCSO Act, as well as section 3(2)(V) of the SC/ST Act of the Saroornagar police station.
