Medchal-Malkajgiri: Residents of PVR Meadow villas, Kothakunta Basti trade charges on flood water

DUNDIGAL: The floods due to the incessant rains that occurred in the last four days have led to a clash between the residents of Hi-Rise PVR Meadow villas at Mallampet under Dundigal municipal limits and Kothakunta Basti in Medchal Malkajgiri district.
While the entire colony in PVR Meadows Villas was filled with knee-deep flood water and they blamed the Kothakunta Basti people for the menace, the residents of the Basti said that they were also affected by floods due to the brimming Kothakunta and Chenna ponds.
The residents of the Villas told the media on Sunday that the encroachers of the nearby lakes were breaking the outlet pipes of the villa to allow the flood water engulfing their houses to escape. As a result, the flood water mixed with the drainage water of the surrounding colonies entered PVR Meadows villa colony leading to a clash between villa residents and the residents of Kothakunta Basti.
The residents of Villas said that their villas were built in 2013 with all required permits and accused that the pond area, which was 10 acres when they purchased the Villas had shrunk to three acres resulting in regular flooding of their residential areas. The residents of the villas are complaining that the authorities have not paid attention to the issue despite escalating the matter several times.
