HYDERABAD: The essence of education is not to accumulate degrees and qualifications, but to aid in the development of character, the expansion of intellect, and, most importantly, the development of a positive outlook on life, which will keep one in good state in the years ahead, said Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari at The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet's Centenary Investiture Ceremony on Friday.
During his address to the students at the Centenary Investiture Ceremony at Hyderabad Public School on Friday, Air Chief Marshall Begumpet recalled his visits to Hyderabad Public School for inter-school competitions during his schooling in Hyderabad in the 1970s.
He said, "Since its inception, the Hyderabad Public School has grown in strength and stature. This school has created an environment for holistic development by blending learning approaches centred on self-discovery, promoting curiosity, and developing students' value-based developed and management skills. Providing quality education and grooming future leaders of society with special emphasis on fostering a spirit of service among its students is the hallmark of this school.
"I'm happy to note that this school's alumni have made it to positions of prominence in their chosen fields, which demonstrates the school's high standards. We live in a quickly changing and increasingly interchanging world. It is only natural that the youth have a strong desire to change our society for the better. Today's generation not only expresses its opinions openly, but is also willing to shape the society in a way that responds to their aspirations," the Air Chief Marshall added.
He said, "As an informed and engaged youth, you are, of course, capable of transforming the country and enabling it to rid itself of the malignancies plaguing society. I strongly believe that we must be the change we wish to see. India is rapidly progressing and making achievements in all areas. Indians have left an unmistakable imprint all across the world and are now at the forefront of numerous professions.
"Adaptability is the key in a continuously changing world. Accept change and be open to learning new things; broaden your horizons and investigate diverse fields; and challenge yourself to venture outside of your comfort zones. The capacity to adapt and prepare will not only prepare you for future uncertainty, but will also equip you with diverse and effective talents to excel in any pursuit you choose, " he added.
"The Indian Armed Forces are built on the foundation of courage, discipline, and dedication, but they are also institutions that thrive on the pursuit of excellence. We are always pushing the boundaries to go higher, faster, and further. You must imbibe your daily life with the spirit of adventure, chivalry, and devotion to duty. Never underestimate the value of teamwork. We have seen firsthand the power of teamwork and synergy in the Indian Armed Forces. We do great things when we work together. Similarly, look for opportunities to collaborate with others in your academic and personal endeavours. Respect diversity and promote an inclusive environment," the Air Chief Marshall remarked, emphasising the significance of teamwork.
He encouraged youngsters to join the armed forces, adding that if they enjoyed adventure, work satisfaction, discipline, a high quality of life, and professional advancement, the Indian Armed Forces were great career options.
"Join the Indian Air Force and touch the sky with glory. I urge you not to lose sight of your purpose, find your passion, and let them guide your actions," he concluded.
