Night offender apprehended by Miyapur police, gold with Rs. 16 lakhs recovered

HYDERABAD: Miyapur police on Thursday apprehended Babbadi Abhilash, a notorious night offender, in RTC Colony, Hyderabad. The 29-year-old resident of KPHB was involved in 20 cases across police stations in Miyapur, Chandanagar, Gachibowli, and Kukatpally.
Abhilash, a former B.Tech mechanical engineering student who discontinued his studies, was driven by a desire for a luxurious lifestyle, resorting to property offenses for quick gains. His modus operandi involved posing as a delivery boy to gain access to standalone apartments.
Abhilash, originally from Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh and residing in Kukatpally, purchased a steel bolt cutter in the Balanagar area specifically to cut through locked doors. The offender specifically targeted locked houses with bolted locks and avoided flats with central locks.
His calculated approach involved breaking the locks with the steel bolt cutter and discreetly carrying the broken locks away so as not to disturb the avoid flat owners. If questioned about his identity, he would maintain the ruse of being a delivery executive.
During the arrest, the police recovered 26 thulas of gold, 300 grams of silver, and two stolen two-wheelers, all worth Rs.16,00,000.
The police have emphasized the crucial need for the public to employ central locking systems on their main doors. They have requested everyone to ensure robust security measures round the clock. The police also asked to exercise caution when admitting unknown individuals, particularly delivery personnel, into homes or apartments.
