ORR tenders: Revanth Reddy’s attempt to head to Secretariat foiled
Revanth Reddy intended to meet HMDA Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar and petition him over the Outer Ringer Road lease issue
HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Revanth Reddy was on Monday prevented in his attempt to head to the Secretariat. The TPCC chief was stopped by the police near Telephone Bhavan citing lack of permission to enter the Secretariat. Revanth Reddy intended to meet HMDA Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar and petition him over the Outer Ringer Road lease issue.
Tension prevailed for a brief while in the Telephone Bhavan area of Lakdikapool due to an altercation between police and Revanth Reddy’s followers.
The Malkajgiri MP expressed his outrage at the police action. He said that he was anguished by the denial of permission to go to the Secretariat and the inaccessibility of the HMDA special secretary.
Seeking to know from the police as to why he was denied permission, Revanth Reddy pleaded with them to take him alone to the secretariat. He questioned how the police could stop an MP from going to the Secretariat. He said that he was heading to the secretariat to file a complaint over the irregularities in the tenders for works pertaining to the outer ring road.
Expressing his anger at the behavior of the police, he said that, as an MP, he had the right to go to the Secretariat and did not need to take anyone's permission. Revanth Reddy also took a dig at KCR and KTR for preventing him from entering the Secretariat. He said that the government was afraid of the ORR irregularities coming out into the open.
