OU alumnus Gopal T K Krishna donates Rs 5 cr for classroom complex in OUCE

HYDERABAD: Gopal T.K. Krishna, an alumnus of Osmania University has donated Rs. 5 crore for the classroom complex of Electrical Engineering department on the university campus.
Gopal T.K. Krishna, who had graduated from Methodist Boys Higher Secondary School in Hyderabad (1963) and the Engineering College of Osmania University (1968 BE - electrical), donated the sum for the construction of “Y. Narasimhan Building”, a classroom complex of the Electrical Engineering department in Osmania University's College of Engineering.
This is the largest ever contribution by an individual in the university's 106-year history.
Krishna has urged the university authorities to christen the seminar hall after Prof. V.M. Gadgil Auditorium, and the classrooms after cherished teachers who had influenced him, the committee room as the Prof. Abid Ali Committee room, and the laboratories after laboratory staff members.
Krishna acknowledged the cooperation of the university administration and faculty members in bringing his dream to fruition.
Prof. P. Chandrasekhar, Principal, University College of Engineering, OU, expressed his gratitude and his deep sense of appreciation for the single largest donation made Gopal T.K. Krishna.
Prof. Sriram Venkatesh, former Principal, lauded the contribution as exemplary.
The Telangana Education & Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation estimated the project cost at Rs. 9.95 crores.
