TANDUR: A serial killer has been detained in Tandur of Vikarabad district who has confessed to have kidnapped and killed atleast seven women after promising jobs to them.

The Tandur police took the psychopath named Kisthappa into custody while investigating the kidnap and murder of a woman couple of days ago.

According to police, a woman, the seventh victim of Kisthappa, went missing on November 29, 2023. Her family lodged a complaint and soon the police caught hold of a CCTV footage where the woman was seen talking to Kisthappa. The accused was then taken into custody.

Kisthappa is a native of Peddemul town in the district. When questioned, he said that he only spoke to the victim but had no idea of what happened after that.

The police however grew suspicious over his behaviour and due to his inconsistent answers. After a thorough investigation, the accused confessed to the murders.

DSP Shekar Goud explained that Kisthappa took the last victim to a forest and strangulated her by using a saree. "The accused admitted that he took away cash and silver anklets from the woman and escaped," the DSP said.

"The modus operandi of Kisthappa was simple. He lured the victims, especially women working in labour addas, by promising them jobs. He then killed them in a secluded area and robbed their gold chains, anklets or cash," he added. The accused then dumped the dead bodies in deserted areas to get away scot-free.
