HYDERABAD: A widow, whose husband was a police constable, was given a job at the Rachakonda Commissionerate office by relaxing rules, after she complained about her predicament through the Praja Vani programme.

Satyalatha's husband, Songa Shekhar, tragically lost his life in a road accident while on duty at the Amberpet police headquarters of the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate on September 30, 2021. As Satyalatha belonged to the State of Andhra Pradesh, the previous Government refused to give her a job for two years, citing her nativity as a reason.

The Chief Minister, moved her plight, promptly issued orders to the State Director General of Police and the Rachakonda Police Commissioner to relax the rules and provide her a job on humanitarian grounds.

Following the Chief Minister's directive, the DGP issued an order to the Rachakonda CP to appoint Satyalatha as a junior assistant in the Rachakonda Commissionerate office. The Commissionerate office promptly issued an appointment order.

The family members of Constable Shekhar, along with the President of the Police Officers' Association, Bhadra Reddy, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the DGP, and the Rachakonda CP for their prompt action and support.
