HYDERABAD: Within a few days after an incident in which a private travel bus was gutted in fire on Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway in Maharashtra, a similar incident was reported in Hyderabad on Thursday night where an RTC AC bus caught fire.
However, there were no casualties reported, thanks to the alertness of the driver.
According to police, an RTC bus carrying 45 passengers left Hyderabad for Guntur on Thursday night and when it reached Pedda Amberpet at Outer Ring Road in the suburbs of Hyderabad, fire broke out in the bus due to a short circuit in Air Conditioner and spread to the entire bus.
However, the alert driver, who noticed the fire, managed to avert a major accident by calling the passengers to get out of the bus on time, thus avoiding human loss.
The fire brigade reached the spot and extinguished the fire.
Meanwhile, there is a growing concern among passengers as frequent fire accidents in buses, especially in Air Conditioned ones, are causing worry.
