Seniors will boycott me if I complain against Dr Saif; Preethi tells mother in viral audio clip

HYDERABAD: An audio clip of a phone conversation between Preethi, a first-year Post-Graduate medical student of Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) of Warangal, and her mother prior to her suicide attempt at the MGM Hospital, has surface and is currently going viral on social media.

Preethi, who is battling for life at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), was heard pouring out her woes to her mother and complaining how the harassment of Dr Saif, a second-year PG student of the same college, was becoming unbearable for her in the viral audio clip.

“Saif’s harassment is growing by the day. He is harassing many junior students including me. All the seniors are together and united. If I lodge a complaint against him, all the seniors will gang up and keep me at a distance (suggesting a social boycott),” Preethi was heard on the audio clip narrating her nightmare to her mother.

Responding to this, Preethi’s mother was heard trying to calm her down. She reassured her daughter that she would set everything right by speaking to Saif. Despite her mother’s promise to intervene, Preethi reportedly found it hard to continue dealing with the nerve-wracking experience. Feeling that she had hit a dead end, the junior doctor attempted the suicide at the MGM.

As a fallout of the incident, a case was registered against Dr Saif under several sections including ragging before he was arrested last week. Preethi continues to be in a critical condition even as she was put on a ventilator at the NIMS.
