Stray dogs prey upon a fawn in Jatayuvu Park in Hyderabad
Street dogs in the park preyed upon a fawn prancing in the park killing it brutally. How did the stray dogs enter the protected park is a proverbial million-dollar question
HYDERABAD: Street dogs are at it again. This time, their prey was a deer. The sordid incident occurred in Jatayuvu Park in Peerzadiguda municipal corporation on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Street dogs in the park preyed upon a fawn prancing in the park killing it brutally. How did the stray dogs enter the protected park is a proverbial million-dollar question. The locals allege that the compound wall of the adjoining Sai Priya Colony was left broken in a dilapidated state paving the way for stray animals to gain entry into the park. Unconfirmed reports suggest that hunters enter the park on the sly and hunt rabbits and steal them. In fact, walkers in the Jatayuvu Park found a dragnet laid by hunters and reported the same to the park authorities. The walkers removed the nets themselves. With a series of attacks by canine getting reported, even the walkers are scared to enter the park.
Officials of the forest department have been alerted to look into their concern.
The park is replete with several flora and fauna, which are now endangered due to straying of humans and animals into their habitats.
Attacking rabbits and deers is an offence under the Wildlife Act.
