HYDERABAD: There has a brilliant response to the discount drive offered by the Telangana Government for clearing pending traffic challans. The transport department has revealed that Rs 8.44 crore has been earned from the drive so far and has cleared 9.61 lakh challans across the State.
Notably, Hyderabad police saw an income of Rs 2.62 crore from 3.54 lakh challans, Cyberabad police generated Rs 1.80 crore from 1.82 lakh challans and Rachakonda police earned Rs 76.79 lakh through 93,000 challans. Owing to heavy rush, the e-challan website has been facing certain technical difficulties over the past couple of days.
The Telangana Government had announced a waiver scheme offering a 90 per cent discount for push carts and RTC drivers, 80 per cent discount for two-wheelers and three-wheelers and 60 per cent discount for four-wheelers and heavy vehicles.
