Telangana govt to prioritise extension of Metro lines: KTR
The minister said on Twitter that Telangana Chief Minister KCR had already asked the municipal administration department to come up with ideas in this regard
HYDERABAD: Telangana's administration will prioritise the extension of Metro lines in the upcoming cabinet meeting, announced MA&UD minister KT Rama Rao on Tuesday.
The minister said on Twitter that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had already asked the municipal administration department to come up with ideas in this regard. Sustainable mobility and shared mobility are the only options for maintaining the required balance of growth and infrastructure, he tweeted.
KTR remarked this in response to a Twitter user who suggested that it was not too late to fix traffic congestion in the city during heavy rains. "If any city can get out of this mess, it's Hyderabad with a good road network, ORR, metro, train, and political will. Thousands of buses at reduced rates are required, as also enhanced metro and MMTS frequency. I urge KTR to actively explore sustainable mobility, " Srinivas Alavilli tweeted.
Srinivas also said, "Hyderabad is the pride of India, to make it sustainable, along with metro line extension, drastic increase of TSRTC bus fleet, common mobility card (OneHyd Card for bus +metro +MMTS), last mile (auto +🚶 +🚴♂️); Policy for WFH and modal share for long term."

Hyderabad Airport metro at a cost of Rs 6,250
A 31-kilometer-long metro line from Mindspace Junction to Shamshabad Airport would be built as part of the Hyderabad metro rail's Phase 2 works, with a budget of Rs 6,250 crore. On December 9, 2022, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao laid the groundwork for the Airport Express metro.
Phase 2 of metro rail, which includes a 31-kilometer metro line to the airport and another 31-kilometer metro line connecting BHEL to Lakdi Ka Pul.
Telangana govt announces much-awaited Old City Metro
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao instructed the city administration on July 10 to move forward with the Old City metro project. He also spoke to the Chairman of L&T which is the agency executing the Metro Rail Project to expeditiously take up the project and promise all needed support.
The 5.5-kilometer old-city metro alignment runs from MGBS to Falaknuma, going through Darulshifa intersection, Purani Haveli, Ettebar Chowk, Alijakotla, Mir Momin Daira, Haribowli, Shalibanda, Shamsheergunj, and Aliabad. As many as 1,000 structures, including 103 religious structures, would be affected in Old City Metro route
