HYDERABAD: Indian-origin students in the United States are getting into a series of problems in recent months. A 23-year-old Hyderabad student, identified as Niteesha Kandula has gone missing in California. Police have been searching for her for the past week.
Nitheesha Kandula is a student at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). She has been missing since May 28. The university posted on "X" "that she was last seen in Los Angeles. She was reported missing since then.
The CSUB complained to the local police. Locals have been asked to inform the police as soon as they come to know about it.
Los Angeles police issued a missing person alert asking for the public's help finding the student who's been missing for several days. Nitheesha Kandula was last seen in Los Angeles on Tuesday, May 28, though the exact area is unknown, CSUSB Police Chief John Gutierrez said.
The police shared a photo of Kandula on X, saying she could be in a 2021 Toyota Corolla with license plate number 9KXU509.
Last month Rupesh Chandra from Telangana went missing in Chicago. His whereabouts are still unknown. In March this year, Mohammed Abdul Arafat, a resident of Hyderabad, went missing. A month later, his body was found in a lake in Cleveland, Ohio. Abdul was kidnapped by a drug gang in Cleveland. He called his father and asked for money.
