Theranostic applications of Nanotechnology in Neurological disorders
This book discusses nanotechnology applications for treating and diagnosing neurological disorders
HYDERABAD: A new book, 'Theranostic Applications of Nanotechnology in Neurological Disorders,' edited by Dr. Akash Gautam from the University of Hyderabad (UoH), has been published by Springer, Singapore.
Edited by Dr. Akash Gautam of the Centre for Neural and Cognitive Sciences at the School of Medical Sciences, University of Hyderabad, and co-edited by Dr. Vishal Chaudhary from the Department of Physics at the University of Delhi, this publication delves into innovative applications of nanotechnology in addressing neurological disorders
This book discusses nanotechnology applications for treating and diagnosing neurological disorders. As Dr Gautam's research area is related to neuroscience, whereas Dr Chaudhary has expertise in the synthesis of nanomaterials, both editors came together to complement each other's research knowledge and compiled the thirteen informative chapters of this book.
The book chapters, through more than 300 pages, covered challenges in theranostics of neurological disorders and different theranostic strategies, including those for blood-brain barrier penetration. It also details the synthesis of nanoparticles, the development of biosensors, and the fabrication of nanomaterials for various brain diseases.
Other topics covered include nanochips and Raman spectroscopy for diagnosis and interaction with neuronal cells. Natural therapeutics (such as herbal products and dietary supplements) in nanoformulations are explored to prevent and delay neurological disorders.
Leading scholars wrote the book chapters from various disciplines worldwide, including physics, engineering, neuroscience, veterinary science, pharmaceuticals, physiology, and biotechnology.
The book's forward has been generously provided by Dr Mahesh Narayan, Fellowship of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), Professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Texas at El Paso, Texas, USA. The hardcover ISBN was published on March 2, 2024. Dr. Gautam has kindly donated one copy to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Library, University of Hyderabad, to benefit its readers.
