HYDERABAD: Tension prevailed in Ibrahimpatnam, Ranga Reddy district on Thursday when the workers of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Congress clashed during a procession taken out by the candidates for filing nominations.
Three people, including a woman, were injured when the party workers of the BRS and the Congress pelted stones at each other. A procession by Malreddy Ranga Reddy of the Congress came face to face with sitting MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy of the BRS sparking a war of words near Ambedkar Circle. At that moment, workers of both the parties raised slogans, pelted stones and threw party flags at each other.
With the situation going out of control, the police present at the spot resorted to mild lathi charge to disperse them and restore normalcy. Upon receiving information about the clashes, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police DS Chauhan rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
