HYDERABAD: Telangana State Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Dairy Development and Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Monday announced that Secunderabad Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu of Ashadam will be held on July 9. The minister who attended the swearing-in ceremony of the new Governing Body of Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad has announced the dates of the Bonalu festival to this extent.

While the Endowment Department assistant commissioner Krishna administered oath to the newly elected committee members, minister Srinivas Yadav felicitated the members of the Governing Council and extended wishes to them on their swearing-in ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that after the formation of Telangana state, the government was taking steps to celebrate the Bonalu festival grandly.

Stating that the Secunderabad Mahankali Bonalu would be held on July 9 followed by Rangam on July 10, the minister said that the government was making all arrangements to ensure that devotees did not face any inconvenience. He said that the temple was developed so that the devotees who came for the darshan of Goddess Mahankali did not face any trouble. "The development works of roads, drainage, etc. in the vicinity of the temple have been done," the Minister said.

Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that a meeting would soon be held with the officials and committee members on the steps to be taken to conduct the Bonalu festival and directed that the officials and the members of the governing body should work in coordination and work for the development of the temple and conduct of Bonalu festival.

The minister claimed that the Telangana government was holding Bonalu and Bathukamma festivals on a grand note ever since the formation of the Telangana state as the two festivals depicted the tradition and customs of the Telangana state. He said that the procession of the Mahankali deity would bring a great charm to Hyderabad.

Along with minister, temple trustee Krishna, EO Manohar Reddy, former corporators Attili Aruna Goud, Attili Mallikarjun Goud, Kiranmayi, Ganesh Temple Committee Chairman Satyanarayana and others participated in this program.
