US Consulate in Hyderabad extends student visa season until end of August 2024

HYDERABAD: The US Consulate in Hyderabad has announced an extension of the 'Student Visa Season' by two weeks, allowing student visa interviews to continue until the end of August 2024.

During the extended interview period, students visa interviews will now continue through the end of August 2024. The application process involves a biometric check and a short interview with a visa officer.

All US consulates in India will offer dedicated slots for student visa (F/M/J) applicants from mid-May to mid-August. Slots began opening on May 20 and will be released in phases.

The consulate has appealed to prospective students to regularly check the US consulate’s appointment system for updates and availability. This extension is intended to help students who have later interview dates ensure they can start their programs on time.

Hyderabad students struggle to secure US visa appointments

Several students from Hyderabad reportedly struggled to secure a US visa appointment even after the Consulate released 10,000 F1 (student visa) slots shortly after midnight on Sunday.

Students claimed that all the slots were booked within the first five minutes due to which they had to wait for long hours in the waiting room at US consulate Hyderabad.

Many remain anxious as the academic year approaches, fearing potential delays in their educational pursuits.
