YS Sharmila arrested and remanded to custody
President of YSR Telangana Party Y S Sharmila was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by Nampally court
HYDERABAD: President of YSR Telangana Party Y S Sharmila was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by Nampally court.
After Sharmila created a scene in front of her house and slapped police officers, the police took her into custody. Later he mother YS Vijayalakshmi also slapped a constable when she went to visit Sharmila.
Sharmila was taken for medical tests at Gandhi hospital.
When she was produced before the court, Sharmila’s advocate said that she was prevented by the police when she was heading to meet the chief of Special Investigation Team head with regard to TSPSC question paper leak case. He said that the police were frequently targeting her and acted in rash manner with her. The advocate said that she was arrested without being given any notice under 41 Cr.P.C.
Though the advocate said that all sections under which she was booked did not attract a punishment of less than seven years and that they were filing a bail petition also, hence the remand might be rejected, the court did not consider the same. The lawyer alleged that the police had touched her inappropriately without taking into consideration that his client was a female.
Sharmila argued that no warrant was served before she was arrested. She alleged that male police officials acted in a brash manner and she responded in self defence.
However, the court agreed with the prosecution and Sharmila was remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
