13-yr-old girl drowns in lake trying to rescue sister in Srikakulam

SRIKAKULAM: A 13-year-old girl died while trying to save her sister from drowning in the Kashiraju Kashipuram village of Nandigam mandal in Srikakulam district. According to information, Tulasamma, along with her two daughters, went to a lake to wash clothes.

Her elder daughter Harika (13), who noticed her sister Jahnavi drowning in the lake, rushed to her rescue. However, Harika could not keep herself afloat and was drowned despite efforts of her father and mother to rescue her.

Upon learning the matter, the police visited the spot and inquired about the incident. They shifted the body of the girl to the Tekkali District Hospital for a post-mortem examination. A case was registered.
