HYDERABAD: Heavy rains have wreaked havoc in Telangana, causing rivers and streams to overflow and leaving 20 workers stranded in floodwaters in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The Peddavagu project is overflowing, leading to a surge in water levels downstream.

Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has been in contact with the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), and a helicopter rescue operation has been ordered for the stranded workers. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and rescue teams have been deployed to assist.

Incessant rainfall in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district has caused the Godavari River to rise to 21 feet at Bhadrachalam, disrupting road connectivity and causing power outages. The heavy rains have also impacted coal production, with several mines suspending operations due to flooding. Authorities have issued a warning for the next three days and urged people to remain cautious.
