52-day-old child dies after taking polio vaccine dose in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A 52-day-old child died hours after being administered with polio vaccine dose on Wednesday at Basti Hospital in IS Sadan Division under Saidabad police station limits in Hyderabad.

Lacchiram and Mounika from Balunayak Thanda of Devarakonda in Nalagonda got married a year ago and had a son. The couple was staying in a hut at Khaja Bhag of Saidabad and making a living by working as a sweepers at a private college.

As part of the immunisation schedule, the couple took their son to a Basti hospital to have the vaccine administered on Wednesday. However, the child who was administered the polio vaccine dose was reportedly dead within hours leaving parents and family members in deep distress.

The parents filed a complaint with Saidabad police seeking justice and legal action against those responsible for the death of their son.
