8-yr-old boy kidnapped for ransom, abandoned near Kavali

PALNADU: The kidnapping episode of an eight-year-old boy, which caused commotion here, came to a happy end after he was abandoned by his abductors in Nellore district. Rajiv Sai, victim, was being brought back to his house in Chilakaluripet by the police.

Rajiv Sai was kidnapped on Sunday evening in Chilakaluripet. The unidentified kidnappers later contacted his family members and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore. The worried family members immediately lodged a complaint with the local police. The boy's father is a grain merchant in Chennai, a factor which the police suspect could have inspired the 'kidnap for ransom' attempt.

It was not immediately clear what made the kidnappers develop cold feet and abandon the boy near Kavali of Nellore district even after demanding the Rs 1 crore ransom.
