Angered by rejection of love, man runs car over cousin

ANANTHAPUR: Unable to take rejection of his love, a youngster has reacted violently by ramming a girl with his car in Kalyandurgam of Ananthapur district in Andhra Pradesh.

According to the police, Gujjala Bhaskar, a resident of Ammarajupet village of Bukkaraya Samudram mandal, proposed to a girl named Gujjala Maithili from the same village. He allegedly chased and harassed her to marry him.

However, Maithili rejected him as he would be her elder brother by relation. Maithili's mother could not bear his harassment and shifted her family to Kalyanadurgam by transfer of her job. Further infuriated by this, Bhaskar plotted to kill her by running her over with his car. He drove his car into Maithili when she was riding her scooty at the Boyalapally sub-station of Kumbadur Mandal on Monday morning.

Maithili was grievously injured in the accident while Bhaskar's car went out of control and crashed into the roadside fields. Maithili is currently undergoing treatment at Kalyanadurgam Hospital. The police have registered a case of attempted murder and are interrogating Bhaskar.
