An Army jawan was critically injured in Gadwal after a dispute over loud music during Bathukamma celebrations led to a knife attack.
GADWAL: A festive Bathukamma celebration in Gadwal district turned tragic when an Army jawan was critically injured in a knife attack following a dispute over loud music. The incident took place in Revalapalli village, Dharur mandal, on Monday night.
According to local reports, a group of people were celebrating Bathukamma with songs and dance when a resident, identified as Krishna, demanded that they lower the volume of the microphone and stop the music. Despite the organisers requesting him to wait for a while, Krishna became agitated and began assaulting them.
The situation escalated when an Army jawan, who was present at the celebration, intervened to stop the argument. Enraged, Krishna reportedly went inside his house, fetched a knife, and attacked the jawan. The jawan sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Gadwal Hospital for treatment.
Gadwal Circle Inspector Nageshwar Reddy confirmed that Krishna has been taken into custody for the attack, and further investigation is underway. The incident has cast a shadow over the Bathukamma festivities in the village.
