Bengaluru police arrest kingpin of kidnap, extortion gang in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad-based Satyanarayana Raju, the lynchpin of a fake police gang involved in kidnapping and money extortion crimes, has been arrested by the Bengaluru police. Raju is the mastermind behind a metal scam called rice pulling.
The Bengaluru police went on a trail and caught Raju when he was allegedly fleeing from Jubilee Hills. Reportedly, Raju claiming to be an intelligence officer from Telangana, with fake identity cards as proof, fooled several people across the state. The gang also kidnapped the children of the rich in order to extort money from them as ransom. A total of 15 cases have been registered against them in the police station.
The gang also used to demand huge sums from the common public by threatening to film nude videos of them and post them on social media. They operated from a hideout set up on the outskirts of Bangalore. The police had revealed that the gang had amassed crores of rupees through these crimes. Besides, Prasad who hails from Hyderabad, Siddhartha, Nagu Rao, Kiran and Bhanudas from Maharashtra were the other members of the gang.
