Boy dies after electric pole falls in Jogulamba Gadwal district
4-year-old boy died in Alampur after an electric pole collapsed during tree trimming; locals blame negligence.
ALAMPUR: A 4-year-old boy, Mahesh, lost his life after an old electric pole collapsed on him in Sangameshwar Colony of Alampur town in Jogulamba Gadwal district.
Residents had earlier complained to the electricity department about tree branches leaning on power lines in the area.
On Sunday, the power supply was temporarily halted to cut the tree branches. However, during the process, a branch fell on the power lines, causing the old electric pole to snap and fall on Mahesh, who was playing outside his house. The boy sustained severe injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital by local residents, doctors declared Mahesh dead upon arrival.
The boy's parents, along with family members and villagers, staged a protest in front of the electricity department's Assistant Engineer (AE) office, blaming the negligence of the electricity department for their son's death.
