Choreographer Jani Master arrested in Bengaluru in sexual harassment case
Cyberabad police arrested Jani Master in Bengaluru after multiple cases were filed, including POCSO.
HYDERABAD: Choreographer Jani Master, facing charges under IPC sections 376, 506, and 323(2) for alleged sexual assault and harassment, has been arrested by Cyberabad police in Bengaluru. In addition to the existing charges, a POCSO case was also filed against him, intensifying the investigation.
The arrest came after a five-day search by four special police teams, which eventually located him in a hotel in Bengaluru city. He was taken into custody and is being transported to Hyderabad.
Due to the POCSO charges, the possibility of bail for Jani Master is unlikely. After initial questioning, the police plan to present him in court and request police custody for further investigation.
The Narsingi police, who had earlier recorded the statement of the victim, revealed that she accused Jani Master of raping and assaulting her in a caravan during a film shoot. The victim also stated that the choreographer repeatedly harassed her with sexual demands, threatening to block her career opportunities if she refused. She claimed he pressured her to marry him.
The victim approached the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, citing workplace harassment. The panel on sexual harassment, led by Jhansi, confirmed that an internal investigation was conducted, and both parties were heard. The committee assured that a full report would be submitted within 90 days, and the details of the complainant would remain confidential.
