Close shave for passengers as APSRTC bus overturns in Chittoor

CHITTOOR: Passengers of an APSRTC bus had a close shave on Thursday after it overturned in Chittoor district. At least 15 persons were injured in the accident that happened at Chamdam village.

The bus was travelling from Tirupattur to Kuppam when it lost control and overturned near Chamdam. The condition of one of the injured is stated to be critical.

The incident happened as the RTC bus driver tried to avoid a collision with an oncoming two-wheeler, which fell on the road before crashing into the footpath.

With the locals extending a helping hand, the injured were shifted to Kuppam Government Hospital. Eye-witnesses claim that a major disaster in the form of a possible electrocution could have happened had the bus hit an electricity pole that was in the close vicinity.
