AMARAVATI: In a significant development in the rape case against TDP MLA Koneti Adimulam, the complainant appeared before the High Court on Friday and filed a notarised affidavit declaring that the allegations made in the police complaint and FIR were false.

The High Court judge, Justice VRK Kripasagar, interacted with the woman, who confirmed her request to have the case struck out.

Taking these details into account, the judge directed the police not to take any hasty action regarding the case. The hearing was adjourned to September 25 for further orders. The case was originally registered at Tirupati East Police Station after the woman from KVB Puram mandal, Tirupati district, accused the MLA of rape and criminal intimidation.

Adimulam had approached the High Court seeking to have the case dismissed, with his senior advocate C Raghu arguing that the case was filed without proper preliminary investigation and was a result of a "honeytrap." The complainant's lawyer, K. Jitender, confirmed that the allegations had been retracted in the affidavit, and requested the court to dismiss the case.
