HYDERABAD: Congress leaders allegedly attacked a former BRS sarpanch and party workers in Venkannaguda village, Farooqnagar mandal, Shadnagar constituency, during a visit by Congress MLA Veerlapalli Shankar.

The confrontation occurred when the BRS workers, led by ex-sarpanch Patlawat Lakshman, asked Congress members to build their party platform further away from the BRS platform.

Congress leaders Bharat and Sakru reportedly verbally abused Lakshman with offensive language before physically assaulting the BRS workers. The incident escalated when BRS workers attempted to file a complaint with the Panchayat Secretary and the police. BRS members claimed they were attacked again, this time in the presence of the Shadnagar CI and SI, who allegedly did not intervene.

BRS leaders expressed frustration that, despite their complaint, no FIR was registered against the Congress leaders, accusing the police of failing to act.
