Cyberabad cops bust fake certificate racket

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police Special Operation Team (SOT) Madhapur Zone and KPHB Police have busted an 11-member racket, who ran a business of selling fake education and other certificates, on Thursday.

The accused produced fake Degree, PG, B.Tech, 10th, Intermediate courses certificates. The interstate gang had prepared fake certificates of 18 Universities and class 10 and Intermediate Boards from across 13 states. In addition to the fake education certificates, recommendation letters, TCs, fake Seals stamps, logos, ATM cards, Adhar and a mobile phone were recovered.

The complainant, Mungara Venkateshwar Rao, who hailed from West Godavari Dist, said that about three months back, he came to Hyderabad and stayed in Krishna Chaitanya hostel at KPHB. Later he interacted with his hostel warden by name Krishna Kanth Reddy and requested for a job on Inter qualification.

Krishna Kanth Reddy advised him to meet his friend Bokka Venkateshwar Rao who would provide original Degree Certificates within a few days from the best Universities for Rs 90,000. After a few days he got a B.Com certificate from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut of UP State through courier. Out of suspicion, he tried to verify the certificates and came to know that they were fake.

Basing this information the team apprehended accused persons hostel warden Krishnakanth Reddy, Bokka Venkateswarlu and the main accused Kota Kishore, who had been providing one-time sitting degree certificates from various universities across India. He provided fake certificates to many people across the State.

During this process Kota Kishore came in contact with the others accused – Sanjay Varma, Rahul Gosh and Prathima Patil, all from West Bengal, who were providing fake study certificates of various Universities. So far, they provided fake study certificates to nearly 100 people and collected amounts ranging from Rs 1,50,000 to Rs 2,50,000.
