HYDERABAD: Magunta Raghava, son of Ongole MP and liquor baron Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy of the YSR Congress, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Saturday morning.
Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Hyderabad-based Chartered Accountant (CA) Butchibabu Gorantla for his alleged involvement in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy, popularly known as Delhi liquor scandal. The CBI has summoned Butchibabu Gorantla to Delhi for questioning in connection with the case. He was reportedly arrested on Tuesday evening for being uncooperative and evasive in his responses. According to reports, the investigating agency alleges Gorantla's involvement in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. The CBI, in its chargesheet, claims that it resulted in wrongful gain for wholesale and retail licensees and their beneficial owners.
The ED also arrested Abhishek Rao Boinpally, Arun Ramachandran Pillai, Vijay Nair, Autobindo Pharma Executive Director Sharathchandra Reddy, and others in the case.
The ED named Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in the case. She was questioned by the CBI on December 11 last year.
Media owner (India Ahead TV and Andhra Prabha Telugu daily) Mutha Gowtham was also named in the charge sheet.
