Devastated by wife’s suicide, Jangaon Sub-Inspector shoots himself dead

JANGAON: Deeply disturbed by his wife’s suicide, a sub-inspector of police working in Jangaon town took his life with his service on Thursday.
According to information, Sub-Inspector Srinivas, 55, and his wife Swarupa (50) have been living in Jangaon town while their children are away in Hyderabad for studies. The couple reportedly had a fight between them on Wednesday night. As a fallout of it, Swarupa, Srinivas’ wife, died by suicide by hanging herself from the ventilator of their house.
A devastated Srinivas wept inconsolably as he could not reconcile to his wife’s death. The relatives of the couple and friends flocked to the house to console the bereaved family members.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Devender Reddy, Jangaon town in-charge Inspector Nagababu and other officials also visited Srinivas' and tried to comfort him. However, within minutes, Srinivas went into the washroom and shot himself with his service revolver, leading to his instantaneous death.
The police shifted the dead body to the Jangaon government hospital for a post-mortem examination and are investigating the case.
