A farmer in Rajanna Sircilla district consumed pesticide due to crop failure and debt, succumbing to it on Monday.
RAJANNA SIRCILLA: A farmer from Nizamabad village in Konaraopet mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district consumed pesticide in his field on Sunday due to crop failure and mounting debts. He succumbed to the poison while undergoing treatment on Monday.
According to family members, Thallapalli Sataiah (40) was managing his family by cultivating his one-acre land along with some additional leased land. However, severe crop failure led to significant financial loss.
Unable to find a way to repay his increasing debts, Sataiah became despondent. On Sunday, he went to his agricultural field, claiming he was going to work, and consumed pesticide. He informed his family about his action over the phone, prompting them to rush him to Sircilla Area Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, his condition worsened, and he passed away on Monday.
Sataiah is survived by his wife Saritha and daughters Rishitha and Harshitha. Based on a complaint filed by his wife Saritha, SI Anjaneyulu registered a case and initiated an investigation. As Sataiah had no sons, his elder daughter Rishitha performed the last rites.
