KORUTLA: In a filmy end to an ATM burglary, a few thieves of a gang were caught after being hit by a police van even as the currency notes went flying in the air in Korutla of Jagtial district in Telangana. The CCTV footage of the incident, believed to have happened on Saturday night, went viral on social media.
At least Rs 19 lakh were stolen from an ATM in the town by the gang of unidentified miscreants. And just when they loaded the cash into a waiting car and were about to speed away, a police van, which rushed to the spot, rammed into their vehicle. In the melee, as the CCTV footage revealed, one of the thieves slipped out of the escaping car and was caught by the police.
The car, with the stolen cash, was seen speeding away even as the police tried to chase the vehicle. After a while, the vehicle was seen coming back in the same stretch and going past the stationary police vehicle even as the currency notes went flying from the rear side of the vehicle.
As some reports claim, the police have apprehended a few more of the thieves involved in the incident. Full details on this film-like burglary fiasco were yet to emerge.
