Gold worth Rs 74 lakh seized from two women at Hyderabad airport
The customs department registered a case and further investigation is on.
HYDERABAD: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU-C) of the Hyderabad Airport Customs detained two woman passengers on Thursday for allegedly attempting to smuggle gold worth more than Rs 74 lakhs from Dubai.
The passengers, identified as Nahith Sultana and Organs Begum, arrived at the Hyderabad airport at 8:25 pm on Wednesday via flight EK-528 from Dubai.
The gold that was not declared was detected in the check bagge even as the two passengers were attempting to smuggle the precious metal into the country evading duty. They reportedly were carrying 1,410 grams of 24 carat gold, valued at Rs 74,02,500, which was later seized.
The customs department registered a case and further investigation is on.
