HYDERABAD: Though electronic cigarettes were no way inferior in causing danger to mankind, their sale is rampant. The Hyderabad City Police have arrested three persons and seized imported e-cigarettes costing Rs. 15 lakh from his possession.
Sleuths of the Commissioner's Task Force, South Zone Team, Hyderabad, and Punjagutta Police, on a tipoff, apprehended three people who were procuring and selling prohibited E-Cigarettes, containing nicotine, worth Rs. 15 lakhs.
Dheeraj, a resident of Jeedimetla, Hyderabad, began his stock market trading business after completing his studies. After suffering a significant loss as a result of COVID-19, he devised a scheme to make quick money through illegal means.
Dheeraj learned about the high demand for e-cigarettes in Hyderabad and the surrounding areas. He contacted Kamrul Memon in Mumbai for the purchase of e-cigarettes at a lower cost.
He also created an Instagram and WhatsApp ID and circulated it on social media to promote the availability of e-cigarettes.
The accused, Dheeraj, allegedly arranged for retail sellers Gaurav and Prem to sell e-cigarettes illegally. Within a span of time, he became noted in the market as a big seller. The police apprehended accused and seized the material. The trio, along with the seized material, were handed over to the SHO, Punjagutta, for further investigation.
