Hyderabad Cyber Crime police arrest fake love astrologer from Punjab

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Cyber Crime police on Monday arrested a fake online astrologer who had allegedly cheated people on the pretext of love astrology. The accused was identified as Lalit, a resident of Punjab.

The cheating came to light, when a Hyderabad resident contacted the accused three months ago through Instagram. The accused, who created a profile named 'Astro-Gopal', runs the profile under his father's name, Gopal Shastri. Reportedly his father was an astrologer. He had also started an online astrology portal, posted google ads and cheated several people who had contacted him for advice.

The victim contacted the accused over the phone for which he had initially charged Rs 32,000. In all, the victim spent around Rs 47,11,808 for taking advice from the accused. Realising that he was cheated, the victim lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad Cyber Crime police, leading to the arrest of the accused.
